ITV’s “60 Minute Make Over” team recently made a surprise visit to Mary Thomas, of 9 Hasketon Drive, Luton.  Nominated by her mother, she is a truly amazing woman who works seven days a week with two jobs to support her family.

When Mary and her husband William moved into their home 7 years ago, they contracted a builder/decorator to renovate their new home.  Unfortunately, he left many areas unfinished, despite receiving payment in full. Whilst Mary’s husband William attempted to complete the work, he didn’t have enough skills to do this, everything in the house either leaked or was left completely broken.

The 60 Minute Makeover team choose deserving candidates and transform their home, utilising the skills of expert trade’s people, interior designers and high quality products, so the unsuspecting owners have a wonderful surprise when they return.  The programmes producers decided it was about time something changed for Mary so the stress of the builder’s unfinished work was taken away. The team completely transformed her living room, main bedroom and kitchen/dining room.

One of the experts called in to help Mary, was Michael Cassidy of Regency Kitchen Design, Box End, Kempston.  He was contacted by the ITV team a few weeks ago, explaining Mary’s plight, they asked Michael if he would donate his time and products worth over £3,000 for the makeover.  “I was exceptionally happy to do this, as a professional kitchen designer and fitter for over 20 years, I know what a difference a well designed kitchen can make to a busy family and Mary was a very deserving case” said Michael.

The interior designer for the makeover was the famous Annie Hazell, who has worked on the programme for several years and also designs for the “This Morning” programme.  The over all design by Annie was absolutely wonderful and will make a huge difference to Mary and her family.  The programme is scheduled to be televised in January 2011.
